The Story Behind the Journal

My story

God took me to the story of the Israelites crossing the Jordan. When they were instructed to take stones from the middle of the river,  where God held back the waters, He reminded me that my journals live in that middle place—pages that mark where grace met my mess and God’s promises carried me through.

What began as an individual need, has evolved into an invitation for others to stand in the middle of their river–a place where a miracle took place, where God met them.

What sets this journal apart is its foundation. Rather than focusing on prompts that center self-healing or personal outcomes, it redirects your heart back to daily devotion and the Word of God. Each page invites you to examine your thoughts and emotions. It teaches you how to rejoice despite your circumstance.

At the end, you will hold your story–a stone, a reminder of when the truth of Scripture and the leading of the Holy Spirit held you and healed you.

Created with power

One day, years ago, I found myself standing at the edge, overlooking the water. In that moment, God used a hummingbird to remind me that healing could still be my portion.

Depression and anxiety wanted to cut off everything I would have today. It wanted to steal my voice and my testimony. It wanted to destroy my children by leaving them motherless. But God.

What a gift it is to be alive and present—knowing that the Author and Finisher of my faith is still writing my story.

And through Him, I have access to His power so that I may walk in mine.

Created with intention

In the middle of severe depression, I landed in the Book of James, which teaches us to “Count it all joy” (James 1:2). And that scripture became my lifeline. Whether in deep valleys or healing mountaintops, joy was available to me, in all seasons of my life.
